KY - a Japanese buzzword.

KY (pronounced as "Key-why") is one of japanese buzzwords of 2007.
It's the abbreviation of Kuuki(atmosphere) Yomenai(can't/don't read), and literary translated as "someone who can't/don't read the atmosphere"="someone who acts improperly".

For example, you can use it like this "He was making silly jokes during the whole meeting with our professor yesterday. He was so KY!" Got it?

In Japan, it is really important to read the atmosphere and read other's thoughts too.
We think we can/have to tell each other's feelings without saying a word.
I think that's the reason why some Japanese are poor at asserting ourselves.
People from foreign countries may think it's so confusing, but I'm used to it and like this Japanese style of communication.
Here is a Japanese saying "Say one, know ten" .

Actually i don't use KY much, but high school students and junior hugh school students use it a lot!
I feel old and the generation gap :'(

Hai! Oppappi-!

Hello! I have nothing to talk about, so I'm going to tell you about a Japanese famous comedian "Yoshio Kojima".

Have you ever heard of "Oppappi-"? It means "Ocean Pacific Peace", Kojima says..
He is a rookie comedian who has become popular since this summer in Japan. on TV show, you can see him dancing in a bikini and telling us some stories. But those stories are not so important and he keeps making mistakes in his storytelling, then finally kneels down and says "Heta Koita(I made a lot of mistakes)..."
After that, he starts saying "demo sonna no kanke-ne-, sonna no kanke-ne-! (but it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter!)"

These days many people are copying him!
It's so cute when a little kid is doing that, but I was really surprised when I heard one of my friends from Germany saying "Sonna no kanke-ne-!".
Now I know he is really famous!

Nevada

I studied at University of Nevada, Reno as an exchange student.

During my stay in Reno, I visited Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, Arizona, New York, Washington D.C., and Oregon.

Among them, I really liked the trip to Las Vegas. My friends and I drove to Las Vegas from Reno; it took us about 7 hours to get there. That was the longest road trip that i had ever had, but i didn't get bored at all. i enjoyed viewing the landscape from the window, talking with my friends, and listening to music. The landscape in Las Vegas was completely different from the one in japan; there were only vast deserts...

In Las Vegas, I couldn't gamble or go to club at all since i was 20 years old at the time. (you have to be over 21 to gamble and drink alcohol in Nevada.) but i really enjoyed walking around and taking pictures of everything because i'm so japanese.

I'm hungry...

I think I'm getting the flu..
All the food that i eat doesn't taste good at all when i'm sick, so I don't feel like eating..
That's a big problem for me...... i really like to eat! I think eating is one of my hobbies.
Today, I should go to the youme town and get some mikans(japanese oranges) hoping it will help me to get over the flu!

When i stayed in America, everyone said that i eat a lot and sometimes too much.
I really liked the food in America! Some may say it's too greasy though...
There are many different kinds of foods in the US. Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican, Italian, French... Among them, I really got into Mexican food.
Now I'm in Japan and miss Mexican food so much. I'm trying to cook some Mexican food, but i can't find any ingredients for it...(;_;)

Look at the Mexican food --> yum-yum...

Hello! I'm studying at Hiroshima University and taking Call(Computer Asisted Language Learning) Enshu-2 class. i'm going to post a blog once a week since it's required in this class :'(

I'm studying English Education at Hiroshima University and this is my third year. It's been almost 8 years since i started studying English but still my English is not good enough.
